Plastic Surgery Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA)
Lahey Hospital and Medical Center
Join our Plastic Surgery team as a skilled Advanced Practice Provider (NP/PA) to work independently and collaboratively with plastic surgeons and other healthcare professionals. You will provide crucial pre- and post-operative care, manage clinic flow, handle inpatient needs, and oversee wound care to ensure excellent patient outcomes. As you become integrated into the department, this role offers a pathway to transition into a surgical first-assist capacity in the operating room.
What You'll Do:
- Pre & post-op assessments for cosmetic & reconstructive surgery patients.
- Participate in consultations & treatment planning; educate patients.
- Support surgical planning & coordinate pre-surgery steps.
- Manage post-surgical complications with surgeons.
- Opportunity to support individual surgeons practice, including performing occasional first assist in operating facilities.
- Document care in Epic EMR.
- Coordinate care with other specialties (oncology, dermatology, etc.).
- Educate patients/families on procedures, post-op & wound care, scar management.
- Inpatient evaluation & management of complex wounds.
- Participate in quality improvement, research (as applicable).
Qualifications:
- Current licensure as a PA-C in Massachusetts
- MA Prescriptive Authority (controlled substances) & DEA registration.
- 2+ years APP experience preferred; surgical, wound care, or plastic surgery experience a plus.
- Strong interest in developing surgical first-assist skills (prior experience or RNFA certification preferred but not required for the right candidate).
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, time management, & interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently & collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
