- Advanced Minimally Invasive Robotic Thoracic Surgery Fellowship
Description
The Division of Thoracic Surgery at NYU Langone Health is offering a one year Advanced Minimally Invasive Robotic Thoracic Surgery Fellowship. The fellowship is designed to provide intense exposure to minimally invasive thoracic surgery. Opportunities for clinical research, presentations, and publications are available. The fellowship is designed to train surgeons to become proficient in all aspects of robotic thoracic surgery, and to obtain the necessary skills to lead a robotic thoracic surgery program. Our faculty perform complex robotic procedures that include segmentectomy, sleeve resections, and complex mediastinal and esophageal procedures.
This fellowship (non-ACGME accredited) is designed for those individuals who have completed an ACGME accredited cardiothoracic surgery residency/fellowship and are Board Eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery.
Our faculty has cumulatively performed over 3000 robotic thoracic procedures. NYU Langone Health is a robotic center of excellence, our faculty have trained many thoracic surgeons in the United States as well as abroad. Fellows will be often operating with visiting surgeons observing from all over the world and will participate in that training experience. NYU Langone Health is committed to quality outcomes and teaching as evidence by the fact that we have received a 3 out of 3 stars ranking for lobectomy for over 5 years in a row and are recognized as the premier training program for robotics in the world and ranked #3 in the USA and #1 on the East Coast for Pulmonary and Thoracic Surgery by US New and World Reporting.
The fellowship year aims to provide a transition from residency to practice with opportunity for growth as a young surgeon and clinician. The fellow will be involved in all aspects of clinical work, multidisciplinary conferences, and will be encouraged to participate in clinical research endeavors for publication and presentation.
